More about DSM
DSM is committed to innovation to create a brighter future for all. Through its corporate venture arm, DSM Venturing, DSM has invested in more than 75 innovative startup companies in the US, Europe, and Israel through venturing over the last two decades, with currently more than 35 active portfolio companies. Our typical investment over the lifetime of a startup varies from 2-10 million (USD/ EUR), after a typical first investment of 1-5 million (USD/EUR). The I AM Tomorrow Challenge is the ninth startup innovation challenge of its kind supported by DSM. Recent challenges include the 2018 and 2017 SunRISE programs to accelerate innovation in solar energy. DSM Venturing invested in four SunRISE startup companies and DSM Solar signed structured partnerships with several more of the program participants. DSM is experienced in nurturing and challenging startup companies to grow and succeed with the aim of building a more sustainable future.
Startups from around the world can apply now through August 8. We’ll invite 20 of the most promising to our selection days where industry experts will assess your pitches during a 2-day selection event in the world-class tech and innovation center, HighTechXL in Eindhoven, Netherlands.
During the selection event, you’ll have the chance to meet with additive manufacturing experts, expand your network and gain knowledge on the spot. You’ll share your business model and goals, and together, we’ll explore how to create a more sustainable future through additive manufacturing.
Then the stakes get higher. Ten startups will be invited to join a 10-week acceleration program in two tech and innovation centers: Boston, MA (USA) and Eindhoven (The Netherlands) at HighTechXL on High Tech Campus. There, expert coaching, masterclasses, and networking opportunities will help grow your company, moving toward a world where more efficient, sustainable manufacturing is the new reality.
At the end of it all, DSM will invite selected startups to become official partners and announce which startups are eligible for an investment from DSM Venturing.
DSM is looking for startups focused on data analytics, AI and other advanced software to improve the process of Additive Manufacturing prior to prototyping. The goal for DSM sees the need for digital solutions that provide manufacturers with different additive manufacturing scenarios, enabling them to select the best option across:
● Performance: Software connecting technical information between the three steps to optimize technical performance of the object to be realised (identification, re-design, simulation).
● Cost: Software comparing total lifecycle cost of AM method vs. traditional methods.
● Sustainability: Software using data from the digital ecosystem to create a transparent value circle from product creation to end-of-life, where the used materials will be recycled/repurposed for use in new or different applications.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU
● Potential investment or close partnership with DSM

IN collAboration with hightechXL
Founded in 2015, HighTechXL began as a focused effort to bolster Eindhoven’s tech scene by making sure promising early-stage startups got the guidance and financial support to advance to market.
By partnering with Eindhoven’s multinational tech giants, we developed a three-month acceleration program specialized in supporting hardware startups. HighTechXL's efforts were spectacularly successful, with a 60-plus percent survival rate. Moreover, we produced an amazing number of transformative companies in multiple market sectors.
In 2018, we pivoted to venture-building, creating teams around the advanced technologies developed at CERN, Philips, TNO, Nikhef and other global research centers. Now, those teams spend nine months in an even more intense process that takes them to international competitions as they raise capital and perfect their deep-tech MVPs.
We support them in developing the skills, learning the methods and using the right tools necessary to expand their business. (More Info.)
